On May 18, a Shanghai-focused press conference on "getting off to a strong start for the 15th Five-Year Plan" announced the implementation of the "AI+" initiative.

Tang Wenkan, Director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, announced plans to drive the intelligent transformation of the manufacturing sector in preparation for the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. Focusing on industries such as integrated circuits, equipment manufacturing, and automotive production, the initiative will leverage ten model enterprises to spearhead an integrated deployment of embodied AI, industrial AI agents, industrial datasets, and intelligent computing cloud platforms, ultimately fostering "AI-native" factories. The goal is to deploy 100,000 humanoid robots into factories and achieve an AI agent adoption rate exceeding 80% among industrial enterprises above designated size by the end of the "15th Five-Year Plan" period.
In April, the Commission hosted a supply-demand matchmaking event themed "Humanoid Robots Entering Factories," facilitating initial discussions on applications such as assembly, testing, material handling, sorting, metal part grinding, and FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) insertion and removal. Additionally, the Agibot A2-W robot has already been deployed on the battery production line at SAIC-GM Buick.
